Attorney James DeGiacomo was born and raised on the South Shore of Massachusetts. He attended Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Media Studies. After college, James continued to live in Baltimore with his wife while he attended the University of Baltimore School of Law. During the summer months of law school, James clerked for the Assistant United States Trustee and in the Baltimore City Circuit Court (criminal division). Upon graduation from the University of Baltimore School of Law he moved back to the South Shore where he was sworn into the Massachusetts Bar.
After becoming a member of the Massachusetts Bar, James began his legal career at Winn Residential, where he represented the company and its clients in the Boston Housing Court. During this time, James assisted several non-profit groups in ensuring that they were in compliance with the City of Boston’s health codes as well as Massachusetts and Federal lead paint laws.
Later, James began working at the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, James represented the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Brockton District Court, Hingham District Court, Plymouth District Court, Worcester District Court, and Plymouth Superior Court. James has appeared on behalf of the Commonwealth on over a thousand cases, and has first chaired hundreds of motions and trials.
Upon leaving the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, James opened DeGiacomo & Mikhlin, P.C., a full-service law firm, which specializes in drunk driving and criminal defense.
